Rob founded The Issues Management Group (IMG), in 1993. The firm was created to provide proactive management of emerging and unforeseen issues, as well as providing clients with value-added management and services. He makes things happen, manages projects, serves as a catalyst for change, and provides personal counsel to top management. Prior to forming IMG, Rob had sixteen years of executive and management experience within the electric and gas utility industries. He rose through the ranks to become the youngest manager in the history of the local electric utility and he was recruited to become the youngest corporate officer in the history of the local gas utility. During his tenure, he has been charged with the responsibility of organizational change and has headed a number of functions, including sales and marketing, customer service, customer accounting, employee training, corporate communications, strategic planning and community, government and media relations. The diversity of these experiences has prepared him well for service as a problem-solver and a project manager. Rob’s experience has extended beyond his professional career into community service, where he has served on the boards of more than sixteen organizations. He has held the top leadership position in six of those organizations, including Downtown Roanoke Incorporated, the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Roanoke Redevelopment & Housing Authority, The Foundation for Regional Excellence, the Virginia Museum of Transportation, and the Roanoke Jaycees. Rob holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, and an M.B.A. from Lynchburg College. He has attended two month-long management development programs, one at Ohio State University and another in New York. He is a certified grantswriter and a trained mediator.
